About this Event
Presented by St. Augustine’s Parish’s Opening Our Hearts Program, Listening to Indigenous Voices goes beyond a workshop by channelling truths from Indigenous sources. The course emphasizes active listening, guided by Indigenous witnesses in sharing circle sessions. It reframes challenges as rooted in colonization and advocates for absorbing Indigenous voices for enlightened action. Aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, it envisions ongoing reconciliation through historical understanding, acknowledgment of harm, atonement, and change. The curriculum navigates Indigenous worldviews and the history of colonization, culminating in reconciliation, decolonization, and indigenization.
Listening to Indigenous Voices offers an opportunity to inspire proactive engagement, encourage openness to transformation, and prompt purposeful actions toward justice, healing, and a post-colonial future.
The course consists of 12 sessions and will run on Saturdays every two weeks, starting October 14.
Cost includes course guidebook. Limited capacity.
Registration deadline: Wednesday, October 11
