About this Event

This is to inaugurate the first Guard of Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Center here in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. While it is a universal public association of the faithful, known world-wide, the Association and devotion of the Guard of Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is unknown here in Vancouver or Canada. With Episcopal approval given by Archbishop J. Michael Miller to the Association, a Eucharistic Celebration is being held by Archbishop Miller to officially open the first Center in Vancouver on June 30, 2022 at 7 pm at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Port Coquitlam. 

We want to invite one and all to come and see what the Guard of Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is about. The Association makes it possible, not only for those withdrawn from worldly affairs, but for every baptized person to live, in his or her daily life a spirituality that is in everyone's reach to grow in holiness. In this event, we want to announce and promote to the faithful the Association and devotion of the Guard of Honor. The special object, which the Association proposes to the worship of its Members, is the most Sacred Heart of Jesus considered as "visibly wounded", once by the Lance on the tree of the Cross and "invisibly wounded" every day, by the forgetfulness, ingratitude and sins of men. Members choose one hour of the day, every day at the same hour, to be attentive to the presence of Jesus. To do a chosen Hour, one need not be in Church or at prayer. When the chosen hour strikes, the members, without changing any of their usual occupations or whatever they are doing, wherever they are, place themselves either at Eucharistic Adoration or, in spirit, at the foot of the Cross of Jesus and offer simple acts of love by offering their thoughts, prayers, words, works, joys and sufferings to give glory to His Heart with the desire to make reparation for the offences Jesus receives from people every day.
