About this Event

Please join us for a talk about grief, with popular speaker and registered psychologist Denis Boyd.

Grief can be unpredictable. It comes and goes, sometimes in waves. It affects our sense of well-being and changes us forever. In this talk, Denis Boyd will discuss healthy and unhealthy grief, the reactions to grief, and the factors that influence grief. He will also provide some coping strategies and tools to help handle important anniversaries and post-holiday times.

Denis Boyd is a registered psychologist and popular speaker who presents talks and workshops on a variety of topics including marriage, grief, retirement, and family relationships. Denis was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and helped to start the first hospice program in B.C. in 1975. He received his Master of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 1977 and is a member of the B.C. College of Psychologists and the B.C. Psychological Association. He is the author of the book Marriage Can be Great! …no really. Most importantly, Denis has been married to Maureen Boyd for over forty years and they have four children and four grandchildren.
