About this Event
The Pontifical Faculty of Theology at St. Augustine's Seminary presents this talk as part of its Series of Patristic Talks for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.
This talk will consider patristic conceptions of martyrdom before the rise of Emperor Constantine: What did the Church Fathers think that martyrdom was? Why did they think that it was so important? This talk will also consider the relevance of their ideas today in view of contemporary global events.
Speaker Dr. Katherine E. Milco, Ph.D., is the Assistant Professor of Classics and Early Christian Studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology in Wisconsin. Her research focuses on patristic and medieval conceptions of sanctity, especially martyrdom.
