About this Event

We all have a vision from our childhood as to how our life will play out: for some, it is finding that one great love, getting married, and starting a family. But then, for reasons we cannot explain, things don’t work out that way. Perhaps we find we are having difficulty conceiving a child, or we have miscarried — maybe multiple times — or we’ve suffered the loss of an infant or child.

We find ourselves suffering deeply. We may feel “less than”. We find ourselves on a difficult and lonely path. We may feel angry — even angry at God — or jealous of others who seem to have no difficulty starting and raising a family.

The Archdiocese of Vancouver wants you to know: you are seen, you are important, and we care about you. Despite your trials, you are still a family.

Please join us for a two-part webinar series meant to offer both practical information and resources about infertility, and pastoral care and support about how to navigate the cross of infertility.

Session 1: The Suffering of Infertility

Sister John Mary Sullivan, FSE, will speak on some of the deeper questions that may arise from the cross of infertility: Why is this happening to us? How are we a family without children? How can this not affect our marriage?

Dr. Jonathan Yang, MD, CCFP will give an informational presentation on: “What is normal, and when should I reach out for help?”

Session 2: Is There Hope?

Deacon Martin and Lora Cayer will share their testimony with a focus on how their relationship and faith has been affected by the long-term cross of infertility.

Dr. Paul Yong, MD, PhD, FRCSC and Theresa Yong will give an informational presentation and share their personal experiences with treatments for infertility.

Please note that these sessions will not be recorded and will not be available afterwards.
