Are you feeling stressed, emotionally depressed, worried or anxious? I am here to listen and would like to help you meet your psychosocial needs.
I am a registered social worker, mental health professional and counsellor with intense experience in social work, child welfare, mental health and addiction, community services, EFAP, clinical counselling, and consulting.
With my professional background, I have been helping individuals, children and youths, adults, couples, and families to overcome stress, anxiety, depression, family and marital relationship conflicts, trauma, and PTSD. I also have been collaborating with individuals on disability prevention, trauma care, substance abuse, and depression care to meet their psychological needs. I strive to provide a highly creative and personalized approach to build a safe, trusting and collaborative relationship. I utilize various therapeutic modalities in counselling to help you develop knowledge, coping skills, and strategies to manage mental health and addiction challenges and maintain a healthy happy life.
Although the individuals, adults, and families whom I assist come with a wide range of presenting problems, the overarching issue is that we all experience spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, and psychological suffering. I have undergone intense training under the Provincial Health Services Authority and Health Canada on mental health, addiction, trauma, cultural safety and EFAP. Consequently, I not only have deep compassion for your emotional struggles but will help you feel safe, understand, heal and experience personal growth.
I am a social worker with over 35 years of experience in social work, counselling, and community services across various non-profit organizations, agencies, and the United Nations System. I am registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW), Registration # 12060; British Columbia Association of Social Workers (BCASW), Registration #1007406; and Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW). My City Business Licence is #0008006.
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a specialization in child welfare from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario in 2016.
I conducted major research on child welfare systems, policies, and practices in Canada. My research delved deeply in understanding how the child welfare system affects children, youth, and their families including First Nations and Aboriginal populations and other racialized communities. It was published as a Peer Reviewed Journal (2016) at Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario.
Furthermore, I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) degree from Ryerson University, Toronto in 2013 and a Bachelor of Social Science (B.A.) degree from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 1981.
Currently, I am a clinical counsellor with Northern Health, Adult Psychiatry, providing trauma-informed and culturally competent, safe, and ethical care through assessment, monitoring, implementation, and group facilitation of patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
I am also in private practice, providing counselling and consulting services to clients on diverse issues to help them overcome mental health, marital relationship conflicts, stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, social inclusion challenges, and empowerment issues. As a Mental Health Professional – EAP and counsellor, I have been providing counselling to clients both in public and private sectors across Canada.
I am enthusiastic about social justice, strengthening relationships, and providing a caring, respectful, and compassionate place to support the social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of individuals, children, youths, adults, couples, families, groups, and communities in partnerships.
