My approach to therapy is shaped by my Catholic understanding of the human person. I see each person as a unique, relational being endowed with dignity and created for a special purpose. Various experiences in life -- especially in our relationships -- can impact our ability to recognize and respond in freedom and truth to living our life. I work with clients to help them understand how the various parts of themselves, triggered by events and people, might be in polarized. This interior feeling of chaos or emptiness leads to distress. By helping clients attune to their strengths and vulnerabilities, people have the ability to heal and find harmony both internally and externally in their family, workplace, and community. I accompany clients and help them become more fully the people they were created to be. With couples and families, I assist them in gaining insight into the deeper meaning beneath their apparent conflicts. I am trained to work with clients who experience trauma or complex trauma. I am able to integrate a Catholic perspective with therapy should my clients request it.
Healing can start when we feel heard and accepted in a safe and compassionate space. I find it rewarding to accompany people seeking a new path or perspective. I help clients find wholeness, meaningfulness, and healing. I know that it is possible to flourish even after the darkest storms.
Jody earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College (California) where she enjoyed studying philosophy and theology. After returning to Canada, she worked for the Archdiocese before marrying and embarking on a 25 year adventure in parenting and homeschooling her four children. Jody worked as a teacher and educational consultant for Mother of Divine Grace Home School. Jody worked in parish ministry including faith formation and RCIA. As the homeschool years were winding down, Jody decided to pursue a Masters in Clinical Counselling through Divine Mercy University (Virginia) where she could be immersed in the study of psychological healing through a Christian lens. Jody’s own life experiences and challenges have provided a wealth of earned wisdom to enhance her professional development. Jody is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC.
